It is characterized by painful lumps, abscesses, and tunnels under the skin that can significantly impact daily life. HS is an inflammatory condition that occurs when hair follicles become blocked, leading to the formation of painful nodules and abscesses. Over time, these lesions may rupture, causing scarring and the development of sinus tracts (tunnels beneath the skin).
