Discussion on TPS Legislation for Haitians in Miami

Together, The Miami Foundation, Stichiz, and Island TV hosted a live webinar on the impact of the Temporary Protective Status (TPS) legislation on our Haitian community in Miami. Miami is home to over 100,000 Haitians, the largest diaspora community in the U.S. On the heels of Haitian Heritage month, we are grateful to uplift the voices and expertise of community leaders who are on the front lines serving and supporting the Haitian community daily and provide an update on the repercussions of this legislation locally. As the Supreme Court currently reviews the legislative pause of the TPS revocation, we recognize that the fear, angst and impact on community members is not by any means on pause and is deeply experienced.

National Domestic Workers Alliance advocates for TPS protections for Haitians because of the impact the ending the protections would have on health care and home care.

FWD.us is a nonprofit that advocates for immigration protections and reform including DACA and TPS. They have advocated for Haitian TPS holders in both the Supreme Court case (Trump v. Miot) and for the passage of H.R. 1689.
